    I couldn’t help but think
    of lonely hearts columns
    of dating & waiting and
    hoping for flowers
    then to decide
if it’s too soon to call
and if he hasn’t called by now
    will he call at all?

    will he be the one
    that gently opens me
    the one that multiplies
    in every part of me..

    and i
    grow big
    in him?

    would like to meet…
    him
    like to know
    him
like to grow with and build with and show
    him
    would like to meet…
    (him)

    It would be nice
    For once it my life
    To meet Love…..

    Without the unrealistic expectations
    Accompanied by the oft-returning fustrations
It would be great to meet Love…..

Releasing all my attachments to materials
    And trying to find security
By securing in what makes me feel secure
To finally be able to breathe from within inside
Of my soul and to truly be free
I could accomplish all this and even more
If i could just meet Love……….

    Truly
Where would I have to go
    Or look
    Or Google/Bing
    To find it????????????

I would like to meet my Father
In flesh, in blood but mostly in his mind
I want to know about his life
I wonder about his dreams when he was first born
About his mountains and his village
where I hear he was so known
His country and his culture, his spirituality, his strength…
    His struggle when he left
to fight a war that was not even his own
I want to know about his joys
I want to know about his pain
I would like to meet my Father just to smell him
To feel what he felt like
I would like to meet my Father so he could tell me
    about me…when I was born
What was it like the little time we spent together
I would like to meet my Father
and feel what it feels like to be held in his arms
To be told that everything will be ok
That our lives have a purpose
and that all the pain was really worth it
I would like to meet my Father…just the once…
Just to tell him how much I love him, how much I miss him…
And in my heart I know I will, one day.

    WOULD LIKE TO MEET…
God my creator and author of my life
The one that breathed life into me
Who directed me steps and kept me safe
    WOULD LIKE TO MEET…
Jesus who died for my sins and made me whole
Who gave me peace like a river flows
    Who ignored my flaws
He called me to repentance and said
No longer shall you remember the sins of your youth

    I remember
    your second birthday

    For your third
    They slammed the door
    in my face

    How did you grow
    How did you love
    How did you unfold

Did you weep when you hurt
    or purse your lips
and set your jaw to stone
    like I remember?

    Do you still sow
    seeds of laughter
and do your eyes still shine
when you know that you’re free?

Who was the girl you gave
    your first flower to
    And what did you name
    your firstborn?

    You’re a grown man
    turning forty now
    sweet son. WLTMU.

    “I would like to meet”
    That special person
    I fell so hard for
    So many years ago
    I fell head over heels
Yes, I am not a shamed to say it – I was in love
In addition, I did not even see it coming
The heart was speaking in tongues
    The body was being transformed
    That person
Had me so mesmerized beyond recognition
    Putting aside my fears
Embracing the feeling that he was pulling right out of my heart
He captivated my mind body and soul
While caressing every move my body made
All these wonderful things were happening to me
Let’s just say – it had me Questioning myself – SAYING -what the hell is going on
You had better believe I was counting my lucky stars
Person – Yes, I am talking to U
You were the one responsible for awaking my inner Diva
I would really like an encounter – maybe to devour – what I never had a chance to conquer
    O Person, where art thou?
I would like to meet before my time on earth comes to an end.

I would like to meet Shakespeare
Find him in his native haunts
I would drink the ale of his time
Talk to him of rhythms, words, rhyme
I would like to meet Shakespeare
    Discuss theater and dreams
    Costumes, sets, scrims and screams
    Sonnets, love affairs, and tears
Yes, I’d like to meet Shakespeare

My first! Here goes WLTM……….who would I like to meet?
    Greet, perhaps share a seat.
A walk along a sandy shore would surely bring more.
    Ecclectic personalities
    Handsome smile
    perhaps a TEAL handkerchief
    Tweed jacket,and dark eyes
    What a surprise…..
As it would be with Tea,
the Lovely Josephine Baker is truly one that I would like to meet.
    Her amazing spirit to live,
give and share her life was a magical thing to watch.
it sprang forth from such a place of Purity.
Her commitment to her family of the rainbow children
    best expressed no less
tells us a bit of the enchanting soul of this humanitarian.
Her steel strength in dealing and overcoming the racial overtures of her time period is something to wonder at in ones own well of racism today.
    One so soft,so beautiful
yet so powerful and Loving, would be a Remarkable meet and great!

    she was sunday morning
    fresh
    crowded shop pastry
    purchase
    particularly married
    and i was left over
    saturday night chic
    fedora hiding
    a life of sin
    and my need for coffee
    the crowd shifted
    she was pressed
    breasts against me
and i was in the moment
    good to meet you with
    an evil smile
    and the scent
    of another woman
    loking up she said
    you are no one i
    would like to meet
    bending close
    i ear lobe whisper
    darling
    it’s too late

I would like to meet someone who practices what they preach/
    Listens more than they speak/
Tells me the truth, no matter how brutal/
I would like to meet someone who laughs through their pain/
Instead of spreading it like a disease/
Because they have never thought of themselves as a victim./
But lets the weight of the world rest their shoulders.
I would like to meet someone who’s eyes still sparkle like a childs/
Who see’s the world with fresh eyes and a hunger to learn/
    With no preconceived notions.

The Ones I would Like to Meet by Flowetic Justice

I would like to meet so many people
who have inspires me throughout our history
some who were a so called open book
and others who were shrouded in mystery
    from women to men
and the images of those who infiltrate my mind
touch my spirit and lifted my heart
    to communicate with them
to have them add fire to my poetical spark
I would like to sit down with Mr. Shakespeare
    my poetic idle
and have him for a personal recital
to have him hear and critique my words
as well as the rest of the masters
    Miss Angelou in the now
and Mr. Hues from the here after
let me bask in the shadow of the pyramids
and gaze into to Cleopatra’s eyes
let mighty Caesar himself tall me of his own story
and the glory of the Rome
that shall be forever written in our skies
I would sit at the feet of Socrates
as he debated with Plato before me
the essence of the meaning of Justice
to give me that much more insight to my on name
I would listen to the endless wisdom of Dr, King
telling him of our president Obama
who now holds the same color and hue of his skin
asking him to help guide and direct him
and then I would whisper to Malcolm and Huey
    to please help protect him
I would like to meet the great one
    shake hands with Mr. Ali
so he could teach the poet how is pen could
float like a butterfly and sting like a bee
I would like to meet Mr. Bolea
so I could learn if the answer was true
    of what I would do
when the largest arms in the world
those 24 inch pythons ran wild
for I have followed his career since a child
    and finally and most importantly
I would want to meet all of you the faces in this book
who read my words and took the time to read and look
to know if I have touched you
    if you have felt me
was the ink that was bled
felt in heart as well as the head
    have you been enlightened
    frightened
    enthralled
    or impressed
and after all that then finally
the soul of the poet could know its rest

It’s Day 1 of the April Write
    And here we go again
30 days of blood, sweat and tears
It’s really here… I’m ready and I’ve got my pen

    It’s where writing daily poetry
    It will reign supreme
It’s where I sharpen my pencils
    And keep my senses keen

    Here we go very slowly
Training week to ease you into the mood
We can talk of something passionately topical,
Like saying, ‘I am Trayvon Martin and I wore a hood.’

On his way home his life was taken way too soon
He only went out to buy skittles and a drink
Instead of waking up behind bars
His murderer still walks free… Damn this injustice stinks!

Instead, I’ll tell you who I would like to meet
Someone whose life I can enrich
And who will enrich mine simply by their presence
And not by making me their dirty little ….

I would like to meet maybe my Great Grandfather
To hear what he had to say
To hear stories of what his Jamaican life was like
    Way back in the day

If you could meet anyone in the world,
Past, present or future, alive or dead
Simply put…who would it be and why
To you, what would do you think they’d have said?

I would like to meet my father…

    Who never bothered to wonder
    If my existence was significant
    He missed so many accomplishments
    But, I triumphed still!

I would like to meet Obama…

    And assure him America’s drama
    Is not his problem
Though he’s solving it to the best
Of his ability in the face of obstacles!

I would love to meet my Father…

Who never turned away His daughter
And the significance of being His
    Is the gift He gives—

    To just simply forgive.

    I’d like to meet me
Not the me you now see
The me back when I was a girl
Who had not yet experienced the world
    Lacking in confidence, feeling unsure
Not yet realising what my voice was for
    The quiet, vulnerable little me
Who sometimes felt trapped, not free
I’d give me a hug and a warm smile
Stop and talk for a while
Let me know that it would be okay
I’d live to see a better day
That wonderful things were coming my way
And I should have faith come what may

I would like to meet my mum
yes my mum when she was young
I would teach her to swim in the sea
Listen to her talk about her prized white hens
And how she got the boys to build the pen
Yes take in the cool evening breeze
And maybe drink a little lemon and ice tea
Then I would like to meet her again just before she gave birth to me the fourth in her growing family
Just to see if she was still happy and to hear her say what she wanted me to be?
Talk about her journey to this time and place
And what provides her with that extra bit of strength and grace
I would wipe away her tears and all her remaining fears
As she tells of her hopes, dreams and fears that she has carry all these years
    And 15 years later we would see how much she really loved me;
I would sit and talk to her on a balcony
As mummy you will always stand as my Queen and a grand lady
