Welcome to Day 11 of the April Write 2013: a new era begins
Today we are once again honoured to introduce another of our Guest Hosts:
Mark Paleologo
Mark is a native of Newark, NJ, USA. He is father to two wonderful young ladies, a poet, an author, and musician. Mark enjoys the writings of Pablo Neruda and Emily Dickinson, and holds the two as his role models when venturing into the world of verse. In writing, he holds three rules dearly.
1. Write what you know.
2. Write without fear.
3. Write like you have no kin.
Our Topic for Day 11:
How do the seasons effect us? Our passions, our desires? The needs we find manifest in the cold icy cruelty of winter, the rejuvenation of spring? Do we get lost in summer’s swelter? The dying fires of autumn in all her glorious colour? How do we take our cues from nature, and how do they relate to our lives and writing?
Read Mark’s poem ‘Blossom’ below and be inspired to put pen to page.
‘Blossom’
he watches the sun
it crosses they sky
lingering more than days past
she sleeps sitting
upon years without rest
without peace
but pieces
fragments stuck
in the souls of her feet
so deeply imbedded
that it no longer hurts to walk
to breathe to see
beyond a canvas waiting
for her to wake
the gentle slumber
holding her closely
swaddling her in dreams
while he opens a window
allowing fresh air
to fill the room
her lungs
with spring
yet again
